Outage sinks dolphin show

2014-12-06 00:00

FAMILIES and children gathered to watch uShaka Marine World’s Dolphins by Starlight on Thursday night only to be plunged into darkness.

Excited, giggling children and their parents piled onto the stands in the dolphin show arena where it was announced an unscheduled bout of load shedding had sunk the show.

The show was for invited guests, not for a paying audience.

Due to the quick thinking of the performers, the crowd was treated to a dolphin show, a few songs from the KZN Youth Choir and an impromptu solo performance by London saxophonist Andrew Young.

uShaka Marine World spokesperson Steven Brown said they regretted the unscheduled load shedding. “Despite assurances that load shedding would not take place, our hosts and performers were dismayed to let down the many guests and members of the media who attended,” he said.

Brown said they had put measures in place to cope with such power outages.
