Owner moves truck from Bellvue

2008-03-31 00:00

THE heavy-duty truck that has been giving Bellevue residents in Morgan Road a hard time has finally been moved.

It was reported last week that neighbours’ complaints about the truck ranged from noise to road obstruction. The truck belongs to Mancinza Investment CC.

The owner of the truck, Sgcino Zondi, has now come out in defence of his “prized asset”.

He denied allegations that his truck was parked there for repairs.

“I really don’t know what these people are talking about because my truck is still new and needs no repairs,” he said.

Zondi said his truck was parked outside his gate and not obstructing anyone else’s driveway or the road.

“The reason it was there in the first place was because I had nowhere to store it while waiting for its registration number, licence disc and work permit,” he said.

Zondi said it was not his truck that made the noise as it has never been driven.

“I have since received all the paperwork that I was waiting for and the truck is now gone as it was just a temporary arrangement,” he said.

While Zondi’s truck has moved, another complaint about illegally parked heavy motor vehicles has been made.

A Hilton resident told The Witness that since December last year there have been two trucks parked in Elizabeth Drive and a third one joined the two during the Easter long weekend.

“Not only are they parked there, but repairs are also carried out.

“Engines, gearboxes and differentials are removed, repaired and replaced at the roadside.

“Because of this, oil spillage and general pollution are common,” said the resident.
