Ozil hails Gunners’ spirit

CAPE TOWN — Mesut Ozil says Arsenal can take the positives from their Champions League exit into the remainder of the season.

The Gunners were knocked out by Monaco on away goals after losing 3-1 at Emirates Stadium, but produced a dominant second-leg performance to win at Stade Louis II.

Ozil says he is proud of Arsenal’s spirit and believes the performance will stand them in good stead for the rest of the campaign.

“I want to praise the whole team,” the World Cup winner said on the club’s official website.

“We dominated the whole game there and gave everything.

“In the Premier League everything is possible and we have to look forward. We have important games in front of us that we want to be successful in.”
