PCB launch platform for networking

2008-08-28 00:00

The Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business (PCB) yesterday launched a new monthly initiative known as Bizz-Link, in response to the growing need for business networking platforms within the city.

The meeting was attended by business owners involved in a wide variety of different sectors, including commercial real estate, IT solutions, accommodation and event management.

The first meeting also featured well-known networking expert Brenda Eckstein as the guest presenter.

She stressed the importance of conducting follow-ups after networking meetings.

“People treat networking as a transaction rather than a process. Following through is really important. It is about the building of relationships … as we all prefer to do business with people we know and trust,” she said.

The PCB noted that every month, a selection of PCB members with businesses of different sizes will be invited to send a representative to the Bizz-Link meeting.

“No services or products will be duplicated among the companies invited. For example, if a training company is on the list for invitation to a particular meeting, only one such company will be invited.

“Those attending will be encouraged to make business cards and other promotional material available to all others present and we will be able to accommodate a small exhibition of product or service,” PCB added.

The monthly breakfast meeting will include a short promotional talk from each company representative and a 10-minute “quick tips” presentation by the guest speaker.
