PMB: bakkie driver killed in accident

AN employee of the Avis car rental company was killed when he lost control of his bakkie at a junction in Pietermaritzburg yesterday morning.

The man, whose name police have yet to release, was declared dead at the scene

The accident occured at the junction of Sweetwaters and Upland roads.

A police spokesperson said the man was 45 years old and that he lost control of the vehicle.

Netcare911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said, “Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the bakkie had left the road after a sequence of bends.”

The driver sustained significant head trauma and died before they arrived.
