PMB flight times altered

2011-02-09 00:00

DEPARTURE and arrival schedules for the Airlink flights at the Pietermaritzburg [Oribi] Airport have been revised to accommodate the resurfacing of the airport’s runway.

The resurfacing of the runway, which began on January 10, will be completed on March 13.

Prior to the start of the infrastructure upgrading and during the upgrade, Airlink placed adverts in The Witness advising its clients of the revised flight schedules.

Msunduzi Municipality spokesperson Brian Zuma said the resurfacing project is being paid for through the R40 million allocated by the KwaZulu-Natal Treasury Department to upgrade the Pietermaritzburg airport, and has led to alterations in flight times.

“The normal schedule service will be restored with effect from 14 March,” said Zuma.

He said that the municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused to all air travellers, especially business customers.

As per Airlink’s advertised revised flight schedules, flight number SA8730 from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg, Monday to Friday, departs at 6.45am and arrives at 8am. Flight numbers SA8732 and SA8738 from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg on Monday to Friday depart at 8 am and 3 pm and arrive at 9.25 am and 4.25 pm respectively.

Monday to Thursday flight number SA8742 from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg departs at 5.35 pm and arrives at 7 pm and on Fridays flight SA8740 departs at 6 pm and arrives at 7.15 pm.

Saturday and Sunday flight schedules remain unchanged.
