2014-04-07 00:00

FOUR people were killed in what appeared to have been a head-on collision between two cars in Newport Road at Masons Mill in Pietermaritzburg at the weekend.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the accident involving a Toyota Tazz and a BMW are still under investigation.

KZN provincial police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the names of the victims would only be released once their next of kin have been notified.

Police were still in the process of establishing their identities and notifying their families yesterday.

The accident occurred late on Saturday night.

A woman and two men died at the scene of the crash, and a fourth person, also a man, died later in hospital.
