PMB police: Baffled by abandoned car, dead man

2008-11-09 00:00

Police are baffled at the murder of a man whose body was found yesterday morning in Market Road.

Members of the Road Traffic Inspectorate found a car parked in Market Road in Mkondeni, which they believe was abandoned there, and impounded the car.

Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said a bullet head was found inside the car, and at around 7 am, a passerby discovered a body on Market Road, about 100 metres from where the car had been.

Budhram said the man was later identified as Mtshotshovu Ngcobo of France township and the car found to be his.

He said Ngcobo ran an MTN shop in the area and he was believed to be on his way to visit relatives in Table Mountain when he was shot dead.

Budhram said possibilities like a road rage incident or a robbery have not been ruled out.

Budhram said that if anyone is able to shed any light on what happened to Ngcobo, they should call Senior Superintendent Chris Wiles at 033 845 7700.
