PMB woman fights off rapist

A PIETERMARITZBURG woman sustained injuries to the neck, legs, knees and hands after fighting off an intruder who tried to rape her in her home in Alexandra Road Extension on Wednesday morning.

The woman, who was asleep, was awoken by noise coming from the kitchen. When she went to investigate, she found an unknown man who had forced opened the kitchen door.

Police said the woman asked the intruder what he wanted, to which he responded he was looking for a job.

When she ordered him out of the house, he left, but returned a short while later forcing her to the floor and trying to rape her. The woman put up a fight, and the man assaulted her.

The suspect took off running when the woman managed to break free, screaming for assistance.
