PSL: cosmos anchored to bottom

2012-04-19 00:00

TWO goals in the first half from Ruzaigh Gamildien and Thokozani Mshengu handed Bloemfontein Celtic a 2-1 win over bottom-of-the-log-Jomo Cosmos in an Absa Premiership match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium last night.

Cosmos’ goal was scored by Alton Meiring early in the second half, but was not enough to rescue a point for Ezenkosi.

The first 45 minutes saw the home side start positively, but they quickly fell behind after a superbly placed free-kick from Gamildien which curled round the defensive wall and into the top corner of the goal.

Thereafter, however, it was all Celtic and only a matter of time before Clinton Larsen’s men doubled their lead which they did in the 36th minute, when Kgotso Moleko supplied a low cross from the right to find Mshengu inside the box. The Celtic attacker made no mistake with a clinical finish.
