Party is a ‘test of faith’

IN TWO weeks, a Brackenham church will be hosting over 3 500 children for a massive Christmas party, for its seventh consecutive year.

Inkosi Community Projects, the outreach group of the New Life Church, is looking for 15 000 viennas and rolls, juice, sweets, crisps and a Christmas present for each child, ranging between the ages of three and 13.

The Christmas party will be held on December 1.

“We can only host a successful event with divine intervention. The sheer numbers we are dealing with would otherwise be overwhelming. We also need to cater for the unknown, as every year, although we have an estimate of the turnout, more children arrive,” said New Life Church pastor Daniel Munsami.

The day will begin with a float parade and will also coincide with World Aids Day.

The children, some disabled, will flock to the Brackenham sports ground, from as far as Jozini and Mtubatuba, on buses supplied by the church and its sponsors.

The grounds will have five tents, with four of them being age-group specific tents, where the children will receive their meals and gifts.

“There will be plenty of entertainment with a massive water slide, jumping castle, games arena and so much more. This event only ever finally comes together at the last minute. It is a real test of faith,” said Munsami.
