Party leaders to vote in home towns

2011-05-17 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL political party leaders plan to cast their votes at voting stations based near their homes, even though some no longer live there.

The ANC provincial leader, Premier Zweli Mkhize, will vote in his home town, Willowfountain, although he now stays at Ashburton. He has voted in Willowfountain in previous elections.

Although they will vote in different voting stations, Inkatha Freedom Party leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi and his arch-rival, former IFP national chairperson and National Freedom Party leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi, will vote in Ulundi.

Buthelezi will again cast his vote at Nkonjeni where his KwaPhindangene homestead is situated, while Magwaza-Msibi will vote in her home area of eMakhosini, both under the fiercely contested Ulundi Municipality.

Magwaza-Msibi is now based in Newcastle while Buthelezi still resides in Nkonjeni.

Democratic Alliance provincial leader Sizwe Mchunu will vote at Mehlokazulu High School voting station in Imbali.
