Pat Lambie pops the question

2013-09-19 00:00

SPRINGBOK heart-breaker Patrick Lambie and his high school sweetheart, Kate Symons, got engaged this week.

“Pat is very excited and he said he can’t wait to be married,” head of the Boks publicity and administration Annelee Murray said.

Lambie asked for Symons’s hand in Durban on Tuesday, Murray said.

“Pat and Kate are so cute and they make the loveliest couple. Both are very shy,” she said.

She said Lambie did not want to tell them how he had popped the question to Symons.

“When I spoke with him he was overjoyed. He was laughing when he shared the news with me.”

Symons had recently completed her degree in human movement science at the University of Pretoria.

Radio and TV presenter Darren Scott congratulated the couple on Twitter, but not all girls shared his sentiments.

“Pat Lambie is engaged. Excuse me while I sit and cry in a corner with my dreams shattered,” tweeted Emma-Jayne Fairlie.

Janelle Gouws tweeted: “Pat Lambie is engaged :( ”.

Lambie scored a sterling try in the Test against the All Blacks in New Zealand at the weekend.

The Springboks are resting this week, but will meet next week to prepare for the Test against Australia at Newlands in Cape Town.
