Pawticipate: SPCA needs your K-9 in 1000-paws-walk fundraiser

GAIL Mitchell, Dorothea Herbert and Doreen Stapelberg regularly walk their dogs of various breeds including corgis, spaniels, Border collies, Boston terriers, Labradors, Jack Russels and 'SPCA specials' in Settlers Park. They are ready for the Weekend Witness 1 000 Paws walk for SPCA at Hilton College tomorrow. Dog owners and their pets have a choice of two walks, a two-kilometre amble and a more challenging four-kilometre walk. There are prizes, including dog food for six months from Parklane SuperSpar. The gates open at 7.30 am, registration starts at 9 am and the walks at 10 am. There will also be stalls, plenty of other dog-related activities, lots of food and activities for children. The entry fee is R25 per person over six years and R10 per dog. Sponsorship forms can be obtained from any of the participating SPCAs — Pietermaritzburg, uMngeni (Howick) and Mooi River & District — or on the uMngeni SPCA website,
