Pinetown: Four suspected carjackers held

2012-10-17 00:00

FOUR suspected carjackers between the ages of 18 and 28 were arrested in Pinetown on Monday.

They are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court court today.

The arrests were the result of an operation by the Pinetown cluster task team that began on Friday in Pinetown and surrounding areas to recover stolen vehicles and trace suspects.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said: “The operation led to four suspects being arrested and four vehicles recovered — a Mercedes Benz, Jeep, Toyota Hi-Ace and Nissan.”

It is believed that the suspects are linked to various other hijack cases.

“The operation is still continuing and more arrests are expected,” Zwane added.
