Pippie: She’s finally awake after long post-op sedation

2012-06-23 00:00

PIPPIE Kruger is awake and breathing on her own.

Her parents Anice and Erwin were at her bedside when she opened her eyes yesterday morning, less than two weeks after her groundbreaking skin transplant operation.

Erwin said that Anice, who has been at Pippie’s bedside every day since the accident on New Year’s Eve, was “all smiles”.

Pippie was sedated again yesterday afternoon while plastic surgeon Dr Ridwan Mia changed her dressings. Her arms will remain splinted for a while. He added she is still a little confused and it will be a few days before she starts to talk again.
