Pirates coach Krol not helped by injury crisis

JOHANNESBURG — Orlando Pirates are not pushing any panic buttons just yet.

Bucs have suffered their worst start to a PSL season in years, but new coach Ruud Krol’s job is not on the line at this stage.

Bucs have collected one point from their three opening games without scoring a singe goal. But Krol has being given more time to sort matters out.

Krol met his technical team after the crushing 2-0 loss to rookies Bay United in Port Elizabeth at the weekend to iron out faults and to analyse what went wrong.

Pirates spokesman Mickey Modisane said he understands the fans’ frustration. “Our supporters have every right to panic. They are our watchdogs, and we are listening.

“It is unacceptable for a club like Pirates to lose game after game … we have to put this right.

“Krol has the full backing and support of the club’s management. It is not his fault key players are injured and he is forced to chop and change his side every week.”
