Play about Helen Keller

2010-03-11 00:00

THE Wykeham Collegiate, in association with Maritzburg College, is presenting the play, The Miracle Worker, at 7 pm from March 16 to March 19 at The Wykeham Collegiate Theatre.

Written by William Gibson, the play — which is directed by Antony Lovell of The Wykeham Collegiate — tells the story of Anne Sullivan, the teacher who brought language and compassion into blind and deaf Helen Keller’s dark, silent world.

The play draws heavily from letters written by Sullivan in 1887, as well as from Keller’s autobiography. Its timeless appeal lies in its conflict, humour and pathos and, above all, its ability to inspire hope.

Tickets for The Miracle Worker are R35 and can be booked at senior reception at The Wykeham Collegiate at 033 342 0752.
