Players of the world converge on KwaZulu-Natal for a feast of golf

2013-10-10 00:00

FOUR championship golf courses in the province — Durban Country Club, Prince’s Grant Golf Estate, Umhlali Country Club and Cotswold Downs — will see hundreds of golfers compete for the World Championship title from October 26 to November 2.

This is the 19th such championship and the last time it will be played in South Africa after being nominated to host the last three events.

The PGA of South Africa is again officiating the championship and the World Golfers’ Invitational, played at the same time as the champs, which caters for business people and allows networking.

“We are proud to have brought one of the biggest sporting events to KZN for the past three years, giving golfers from around the world the opportunity to play on our magnificent courses,” said Craig Clay-Smith, spokesperson for World Golf Events South Africa.

Team South Africa captain Arthur Mzimela was upbeat and positive that his lads could win this year’s edition.
