Please bring back our pillars, pleads church

2010-10-19 00:00

MEMBERS of the Methodist Church in central Pietermaritzburg are appealing for information about two pillars that went missing after a vehicle mounted a pavement on Peter Kerchoff Street and and knocked them down about three weeks ago.

Dave Dugmore, a church member, said the pillars are very expensive to replace because they are very old.

“I recently did a quotation to find out what it would cost the church to restore these pillars. It will cost about R30 700 just to buy two new poles without fitting them,” said Dugmore.

“We don’t want to have anyone arrested. If people can give back those poles, we won’t press any charges,” he added.

Dugmore said the church has footage from a CCTV camera that shows three people packing the pillars into a white car. But the images are too blurred to identify the details on the number plate.

People who may know the whereabouts of the pillars should phone Dave Dugmore at 033 386 3601 or Joan Perros at 033 392 4250.
