Plessislaer: murdered baby found

2010-09-17 00:00

THE decomposed body of a baby, estimated to be six to eight weeks old, was discovered with a gash on the head in Plessislaer yesterday morning. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan said police have opened a murder docket.

A passer-by found the baby girl in a bush on the side of Selby Msimang Road, after noticing and opening a packet.

“At this stage it is believed that the baby may have been murdered elsewhere and dumped on the river bank. Due to the state of decomposition it is believed that the baby had been lying there for about two weeks.” said Jeevan.

She asked anyone who knows anything about the murder to phone Plessislaer police station at 033 398 9752 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
