‘Poison’ plotter to appeal conviction

2012-11-06 00:00

DAVE Williams (52) will bring an application for leave to appeal against his conviction for plotting to kill his wife, Vino, as well as his jail sentence, very soon, his attorney, Nasen Naicker, confirmed yesterday.

Naicker confirmed that he had received firm instructions yesterday to proceed with an application for leave to appeal on behalf of Williams, who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, of which three years were conditionally suspended, on Friday.

He said he would also apply for Williams to be released on bail pending appeal.

The court found that Williams had conspired to murder his wife, and bought what he thought were poisonous capsules from a police agent posing as a hitman, to carry out his plan.
