Police probe stalled: Assault charge dropped

2013-04-24 00:00

CHARGES have been provisionally withdrawn in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court against an Msunduzi traffic inspector, Gonas Moodley (55), who was charged with assaulting Max Brown at the Washington Road offices in February.

Moodley was charged with common assault for allegedly twisting Brown’s arm.

The reason noted for the withdrawal of the charge was that the police investigation was incomplete as statements were outstanding and the investigating officer was on leave. The presiding magistrate refused to grant a further postponement.
