Police search for missing model

2013-01-25 00:00

THE police are searching for a Pietermaritzburg model who has been missing for two weeks.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said Mygirl Makiwane (28), of Pelham, was last seen on Thursday, January 10.

Makiwane’s sister, Jennifer, said she last spoke to her that morning.

When she tried calling her that evening, her phone was turned off.

Jennifer said she was at their home in Mthatha at the time.

“We’ve been asking all her friends if they have seen her, and they say they haven’t,” she said.

Jennifer said their mother was in hospital and doesn’t know that Makiwane is missing.

She said her sister’s wallet was still in her flat and she thought that she had been fetched from the flat.

“When we got into her flat, there was meat that had been taken out of the fridge. It looks like she was preparing to cook,” she said.

A friend of Makiwane said she had seen her at about 7.45 pm on Thursday, January 10.

Makiwane had gone to buy airtime at a store and told the friend that she was with her boyfriend in her flat, Jennifer said.

Makiwane is the mother of a two-month-old baby and models for a local modelling agency.

She is tall, slender, fair in complexion and has shoulder-length black hair.

She has a green and black butterfly tattoo on her lower back and has scars on her upper lip and forehead from an accident.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Warrant Officer Morgan Munsami at 033 845 7724 or 084 400 9945.
