Polokwane 2 - 0 win sinks Ajax

2013-09-23 00:00

POLOKWANE — Goals from Thapelo Tshilo and Siphesihle Nzimande saw Polokwane City claim a 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town in their PSL encounter at the Peter Mokaba Stadium yesterday afternoon.

The victory was the first in the league for Polokwane City as they now lift themselves off the bottom of the table for the first time since the start of the season.

The heat looked like it was starting to get to Ajax and Polokwane managed to catch them on the break in the 40th minute, which saw Thapelo Tshilo slide in to tap home the opening goal.

He was, however, replaced immediately afterwards for what was suspected to be injury rather than tactical reasons.

It just wasn’t Ajax Cape Town’s day as they landed up going 2-0 down when Siphesihle Nzimande found the back of the net in the 70th minute.

With the two-goal deficit swinging out of Ajax’s favour, their loss meant they dropped to the bottom of the table.
