Pottermaniac: PMB’s top fan sees stars at London premiere

2011-07-20 00:00

PIETERMARITZBURG might just have Harry Potter’s biggest fan.

Sarah Francis (17) of Wembley said she had the time of her life when she flew to London and got to mingle with other Pottermaniacs and see the stars at the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 on July 7.

Her mother, Rashilla, said they did not secure tickets to the premiere, but for her daughter the red carpet experience was good enough.

The grade 11 Carter High School pupil’s face lights up when she talks about her experience.

“I grew up with Harry Potter since the age of seven and attending the red-carpet event was just spectacular. The vibe was energetic and the feeling was absolutely great.”

Sarah told The Witness that she met other fanatics from all over the world, including the Czech Republic, Germany and the United States, who had come to witness the epic grand finale of what they will remember as the best film series ever.

Her pretty room is filled with Harry Potter posters, stickers, calendars, DVDs, books and computer games, and she keeps newspaper articles about the actors.

“This is the best holiday. I was just crying because it was too emotional and I was so happy,” she added.

Sarah said she managed to get autographs from the Weasley twins, played by James and Oliver Phelps, and from Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe.

She is sad the Harry Potter road has come to an end.

“I had the best time and it will take a lot for me to top that,” she said.
