Power cut: parts of northdale in the dark

2011-06-30 00:00

PARTS of Northdale were without electricity for most of the day yesterday.

Residents said they were plunged into darkness on Tuesday at around 7.30 pm. By late afternoon yesterday the electricity was still out.

An angry resident who called The Witness from Vengada Road, off Bombay Road, said about 15 homes in her road were without electricity.

“It’s either that when you call you can’t get through or when you do get through to someone you get told that you are on the waiting list. So there is no telling how many areas are without electricity,” she said.

Another resident called from Newholmes to complain.

The residents said power cuts have been ongoing for the past two weeks. They said the lights usually go off at night and are back on by the morning.

“What angers me is that we will still be left to pay the same exorbitant bills when half the time we are without lights,” said a resident.

Msunduzi municipal spokesperson Brian Zuma, could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
