Power shutdown: Hilton, prestbury to be affected

2012-06-28 00:00

MSUNDUZI Municipality was due to switch off power to Hilton, Prestbury and parts of the CBD from 10 pm last night to 4 am this morning.

Spokesperson Brian Zuma said this was to undertake urgent repairs to the Retief Street sub-station. “We have to shut it down to address a number of issues, including replacing ageing circuit breakers.”

Zuma said that in addition to repairs at the Retief Street substation a cable fault had knocked out one of the two lines that feed Hilton, meaning that pockets of Hilton had to be put onto a load shedding rotation yesterday.

He said it was envisioned that the power problems would be resolved in the early hours of this morning.
