Premier, First Division South fixtures re-jigged

2014-07-19 00:00

WITH the Sharks playing at home, this weekend’s Fidelity Security Premier Division and First Division South fixtures have been re-jigged.

Matches were played last night but some have been kept for their scheduled fixtures today, although times have been changed.

Second-placed Premier Division side College Rovers, six points behind pace-setters Durban Collegians going into the weekend matches, take on UKZN Impi at 11 am on the Pietermaritzburg campus today while at 2.40 pm Varsity College host Zululand Rhinos on their Riverside Sports rugby ground in Durban North.

Crusaders, five points ahead of Varsity College going into the weekend, took on sixth-placed Maritzburg Collegians last night, while Durban Collegians travelled down the South Coast for their date with fifth-placed Amanzimtoti.

Last weekend, Durban Collegians were given a run for their money by the rejuvenated PMB Collegians line-up in the first half, the lads from the KZN capital leading 17-14 at the break.

Rovers had to fight all the way to stay in league title contention in their match against the impressive league newcomers Toti, while UKZN Impi edged bottom-placed Rhinos in Empangeni.

Varsity College went up the road to upset fellow Durban North side Crusaders and the tussle for third, fourth and fifth places between these two sides and Toti is a tight race.

Today – Prem Div: Varsity College vs Zululand Rhinos (2.40 pm Riverside); UKZN Impi vs College Rovers (11 am PMB Varsity). First Div South: Ballito Dolphins vs Harlequins (1.30 pm); Hillcrest vs Richards Bay (3.30 pm); Westville Old Boys vs South Coast Warriors (1 pm).

Prem Div: DBN Collegians 49 PMB Collegians 17; College Rovers 26 Amanzimtoti 20; Crusaders 20 Varsity College 32; Zululand Rhinos 21 UKZN Impi 26. First Div South: Harlequins 12 Hillcrest 24; Richards Bay 24 South Coast Warriors 25.
