'Proudly ANC': range of shoes named for leaders

2010-09-20 00:00

THE ruling party’s latest “proudly ANC” product is a range of shoes.

An ad with pictures of the shoes was displayed where delegates registered.

Each shoe has a name: the “President Jacob Zuma” is a conservative brown lace-up shoe, while the “former president Nelson Mandela” is the same model, only in black.

The shoe named after party chairperson Baleka Mbete is a white, high-heeled shoe decorated with the ruling party’s colours.

In contrast, the shoe bearing the name of Angie Motshekga is comfortably flat and practical for walking long distances.

The “Chris Hani” is a black takkie embroidered with “MK Veterans”.

The range was designed by Solom Mthembu, a delegate from the ANC in Gauteng. The prices range between R600 and R1 200.
