2011-12-06 00:00

THE KZN Inland cricket team beat Namibia by 68 runs at the Maritzburg Oval on Sunday in their first win of the Provincial Challenge season.

Inland got off to a flying start in the 50-over encounter and rattled up 301 for six with opener Stefan Myburgh leading the way in compiling 105 in two hours and off 104 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes.

Devon Conway (44) and Glen Addicott (61 not out) were also major contributors.

In reply, Namibia opener Pikky ya France scored 41 while the consistent Raymond van Schoor (61) and Gerrie Snyman (39) also offered a measure of success in attempting to chase down the imposing target, but 233 was the sum total of their team’s efforts.

Inland seamer Faheem Suleman destroyed any hope the Namibians might have entertained of snatching an unlikely victory with a superb five wickets for 27 runs.

The three-day match ended in a draw on Saturday. Inland next play Boland at Paarl from December 16 to 20.
