Quarrel: guard stabbed at taxi rank

2010-07-16 00:00

A 37-YEAR-OLD security guard suffered a serious stab wound during an argument at a minibus-taxi rank in Pietermaritzburg yesterday afternoon.

The attack happened at the long-distance taxi rank, which is at the corner of Boshoff and Pietermaritz streets.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the security guard was at the entrance of the underground taxi rank when the argument broke out.

He said a man, who later ran away, stabbed him with a broken bottle.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the security guard seated on the pavement surrounded by a pool of blood. The patient had sustained serious stab wounds to both of his arms,” said Banks.

The security guard was taken to Northdale Hospital.
