Rabada keeps Warriors quiet

2015-03-27 00:00

JOHANNESBURG — In a day plagued by bad weather, with one whole session lost to rain, Kagiso Rabada claimed four wickets to restrict the Warriors to 193 for eight at stumps in their Sunfoil Series match against the Highveld Lions played at the Wanderers yesterday.

With the shadows blanketing the Bullring, the umpires pulled the stumps, with Simon Harmer on 35 and Sisanda Magala on 12.

The newly-crowned Sunfoil Champions — their first first-class title in 15 years — won the toss and asked their visitors to bat, a decision, which appeared to be justified, with their guests three wickets down, within 11 overs.

A determined fourth-wicket partnership of 70 between Colin Ingram and Colin Ackermann brought some stability to the innings.

But after the tea interval everything went pear-shaped, three wickets falling for a mere 17 runs.

Warriors 198-8 (Ackermann 50, Ingram 39, Harmer 35*; Rabada 4-39).
