Rally: minority movement says no to skin colour policies in govt

2011-04-29 00:00

THE SA Minority Rights Equality Movement (SAMREM) together with the Msunduzi Rates Forum will hold a motorcade culminating in a rally at the Eastwood Hall on Sunday, May 1 at 2 pm.

One of the organisers, Fred Wagner said the rally is to say no to the apartheid-type policies that are creeping in under the present government and to look at how the municipality is targeting certain communities.

A statement on the flyer that was being distributed by the group yesterday said; “Did you know that council loves the colour of your money, but the colour of your skin will not get you a council job?” The flyer also decried the increasing costs of municipal services and the effects of this on the poor. Wagner said discussion at the rally will include the removal of the Eastwood garden refuse site to a more suitable area; poor service delivery, particularly problems with refuse removal; a decent indigent policy as well as rates and services increases. He urged all residents to attend. — WR.
