Rape: Virginity test reveals violation of girl

2011-07-01 00:00

A VIRGINITY test conducted at a Umemulo (cultural function) recently revealed that an 11-year-old girl was sexually active — in fact, she had been raped.

Elders at the traditional meeting discovered that the girl was attacked by a group of boys while returning home from playing at the sports ground in Nkampini in May.

One of the boys grabbed her and took her into the bushes, where he forcibly had intercourse with her.

In a separate incident two men were arrested this week for the rape of two girls and a boy in May in the Manzamhlophe area in Ezinqoleni.

The three were walking home when they were stopped by two men aged 20 and 25. The aggressors, armed with a knives and a gun, raped the girls several times and sodomised the boy.

They also took the girls’ cell phones. They were arrested on Wednesday night by the Margate police and charged with rape, robbery and the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Those with more information that could assist with investigations or lead to the conclusion of these cases are urged to contact Captain Gerald Mfeka on 082 331 0985.
