FIVE men appeared in court on Monday in connection with a rape of an 18-year-old teenager in the kwaHhaza, Taylors Halt area, on Friday.

The men are aged between 18 and 22 years.

According to the police, at about 3 pm on Friday, the victim was with her 29-year-old boyfriend in his car, which was parked on the roadside about 50 metres away from her home.

They were approached by five men, one of whom smashed the window of the vehicle with a rock and removed the CD player.

The other men then forced the woman out of the vehicle and dragged her into nearby bush where she was repeatedly raped.

The boyfriend fled the scene to seek assistance and contacted the police.

The suspects were arrested on the same evening and made their first court appearance on Monday.
