Rape: police in awareness drive

2010-11-17 00:00

FOLLOWING the recent rapes of two females in Umtentweni and Oslo Beach, the Port Shepstone police department has embarked on an awareness drive in the community which began last week.

On Wednesday, female staff members of Jaxx restaurant and Abbington Spar (where one of the victims worked) were taught how to defend themselves when attacked.

Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid of the SA Police Force in Port Shepstone issued the ladies with whistles to carry so that they can alert people if ever they are attacked.
