Reeva: Family farewell today

2013-02-19 00:00

REEVA Steenkamp’s parents and family and a small circle of friends will bid her farewell in a private funeral today.

In Port Elizabeth yesterday, her uncle, Michael Steenkamp, was asked if they had a message for Oscar Pistorius’s father, Henke, who will be in court with his son.

He said there was a shared pain.

“Oscar’s parent is a parent.

“Parents have children, just like me, it makes us the same.”

Steenkamp’s parents, Barry and June, have not yet spoken to SA media, although they have been quoted in British papers.

Michael said they were not following the news, and he and Barry didn’t watch Reeva on Tropika Island of Treasure on Saturday, although June did, because she wanted to remember her as she was.
