Regina Road shooting: man (37) gets R1?500 bail

2011-11-08 00:00

A 37-YEAR-OLD Pietermaritzburg man, Jermaine Joseph, appeared briefly in the magistrate’s court yesterday in connection with charges of attempted murder and murder of two men who had been accused of assaulting his son.

The state alleges that he shot and killed Sashen Naidoo (20) and injured Allen Reddy (19) at Regina Road in Northdale during an altercation on November 3.

Joseph was not asked to plead to any charges before magistrate Linda Lewis yesterday, although he indicated that he intends to plead not guilty.

He was granted bail of R1 500 after prosecutor Sally Singh said the state did not oppose his release on bail. Joseph undertook to live at a different address in Orient Heights pending finalisation of his trial.

The case was postponed to December 9 pending further investigations.
