Report: eThekwini, Ugu declared disaster areas

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sbu Ndebele has endorsed a recommendation that the eThekwini and Ugu areas be declared provincial disaster areas.

A special report presented to the cabinet also stated that approximately R3,6 billion has to be sourced to address issues like road infrastructure rehabilitation; temporary housing provision to the displaced victims of the disasters; ongoing food supply; rehabilitation of public facilities, including schools, clinics and agricultural facilities and plantations. Ndebele will also write to the presidency outlining the magnitude of the disaster and what KZN has done.
