Rethink campaign: Schools’ entries deadline today

2011-09-26 00:00

LIBERTY Midlands Mall has extended the date for submission of schools’ entries in its re*think campaign to today.

The campaign is part of an integrated implementation of a number of initiatives to ensure that its impact on the environment is minimised.

It is focused on informing and educating the community about global warming, climate change and their effects on our environment, through a number of activities and campaigns.

Liberty Midlands Mall’s vision is to mobilise support and action through initiatives that will build and grow the community sustainably.

The youth play a fundamental role in our future and the re*think campaign is aimed primarily at this audience, ensuring that the message and learning opportunities about global warming and climate change are communicated to them.

The integrated campaign intends to raise awareness, educate the youth and encourage participation at all levels.

The mall aims to get the city excited about responsible recycling. It is inviting all schools in and around Pietermaritzburg to get their students to renew, reduce and recycle by creating works of art around the theme “It’s Your World”.

Creativity and the ability to think “outside the box” are encouraged.

Schools should submit sculptures, paintings, drawings and multi-media artworks using recyclable or recycled materials.

They can enter their top two submissions in each of the following categories:

•Junior primary (grade rr to grade 3)

•Senior primary (grade 4 to grade 7)

•High school (grade 8 to grade 12)

Entries in each category will be displayed at mall from October 19 to 23.

The winning school in each category will receive a Liberty Midlands Mall shopping voucher to the value of R5 000 for their school.

So do hurry to get those entry forms in today.

Artwork will only need to be submitted by mid-October.
