Rhythmic angels sing gospel

2008-07-25 00:00

Even with the blistering cold, gospel fans made it to the city hall last Friday where a local gospel group launched their first album called Ungenzele Konke.

The talented group members impressed with their angelic voices and rhythmic moves.

After struggling for 13 years, they achieved the status of recorded artists with assistance from the Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism. The group, produced by Malcom Nhleko, has signed a recording contract with Durban’s Maltre Music and are preparing to shoot their first video.

“We have tried to share our struggles and triumphs,” said musical director Nhlanhla Nziphazi. “We sing on promotional tours and in churches, at weddings and even at funerals. People could not believe what they heard because the members are new in the industry. If we made it, why can’t others?”
