Rica: KZN users urged to register by December

AN estimated 2,8 million Vodacom cellular phone users in KwaZulu-Natal still need to register their cellular phones for Rica before December 2010 to avoid having their numbers disconnected by the service providers.

Vodacom said of its 4,1 million pre-paid customer base in the province, 2,8 million still need to register. In the contract base, they believe 275 000 still need to be registered.

Managing executive of Vodacom in KwaZulu- Natal Alberts Breed described Rica as a useful tool to combat crime, saying the police can now track numbers that have been involved in organised crime. — Witness Reporter.
