Riveting story of estranged twins is a Bollywood masterpiece

DIRECTOR Vishal Bhardwaj has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with his adaptations of two Shakesperian tragedies, Maqbool and Omkara.

Once again Vishal hits the bull’s eye with Kaminey — a masterpiece with attitude.

The film has three stars — Vishal Bhardwaj, Shahid Kapoor and “Dhan Te Nan”.

It is a riveting story of estranged twins Guddu and Charlie (both played by Shahid Kapoor) — one good and the other not-so-good — who cross paths once again one fateful rainy night. They are as different as chalk and cheese. Guddu stammers while Charlie lisps.

Charlie wants to get rich quickly and gets mixed up in a deadly scheme, while Guddu ends up impregnating his girlfriend, Sweety (Priyanka Chopra), which messes up his life plan. Guddu has no option but to marry Sweety unwillingly out of fear of her politician goon of a brother, Bhope Bhau (Amol Gupte).

This is followed by a cat-and-mouse game with twists and turns as the baddies get mixed up with the twins. The brothers have to run to protect themselves, their dreams and their love.

Kapoor as both Guddu and Charlie with their speech defects is brilliant. This film will open many new doors and vistas for him as an actor. He definitely has my vote for being nominated actor of the year.

Chopra as the feisty, love-struck Maharashtrian girl is first-rate. Gupte (the writer and creative director of Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par) is unbelievable as the diabetic goon with political ambitions.

The “Dhan Te Nan” director, Bhardwaj, has once again proved to be a top-notch director in Hindi cinema as he presents his audience with a masterpiece and gets brilliant performances from his star cast.

This film has lots of quality elements that are guaranteed to keep you entertained.
