Road accidents: five dead, 15 Hurt in KZN

FIVE people were killed and 15 others injured in separate accidents in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said a man was killed on the M4 Southern Freeway in Durban on Saturday night. A woman, believed to be in her mid-twenties, was killed on the M7 in Pinetown.

Zinhle Mngomezulu of the Road Traffic Inspectorate said three other people died when their Opel Corsa hit a tree on the R102 in KwaDukuza yesterday morning. Three others in the vehicle were injured.

Netcare911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said 12 people were taken to Northdale Hospital after their vehicle hit a tree at the corner of Pietermaritz and Peter Kerchhoff streets in Pietermaritzburg in the early hours of yesterday morning.
