Road rage: Two suspects arrested

2008-09-02 00:00

Two men were arrested in connection with an alleged road rage incident in which a motorist was shot dead in the early hours of Monday morning.

KwaDabeka police spokesman Captain Bongani Khomo said Michael Mbonambi was driving a VW Golf in kwaDabeka’s E- section when a red Polo Playa driving towards him swerved towards his car.

Both cars stopped and a heated argument ensued between Mbonambi and the Polo driver.

“The driver of the Polo reversed and then made a U-turn and parked next to Mbonambi’s car. The driver of the Polo pointed a gun at Mbonambi and opened fire,” he said. Mbonambi was shot in the head and died at the scene.

Police arrived shortly after the shooting and arrested two suspects. “The men have been charged with murder and will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court,” he said.
