2009-12-10 00:00

IN a bid to help lower the rate of deaths caused by road accidents among pupils of Izwilesizwe Primary School in Unit BB, Imbali, South Africans Against Drunk Driving (SADD) gave the Soul Buddyz team from the school a lecture on road safety yesterday.

The Soul Buddyz programme is an initiative of Soul City to encourage pupils aged from eight to 12 to identify and help to solve problems in their communities.

According to school principal Thembi Luthuli, every year pupils from the school are injured or killed in accidents along Willowfountain Road.

“When SADD recently collected 18 000 pairs of shoes, one for each of the people who die on our roads every year, our school also participated …”

Caro Smit of SADD distributed 1 000 pairs of shoes left from the World Day Remembrance, reflective arm bands, lunchbox gift packs and stationery to 56 Soul Buddyz.
