Robber rapes gogo (82)

AN 82-year-old woman was raped in her Bhobhoyi home on Saturday morning.

According to a police report, the man knocked on the door of the house of the elderly woman late on Saturday evening. She refused to respond.

The man kicked down the door and confronted the woman, demanding cash and a cellphone.

After she gave him her cash, the man attacked and raped her, fleeing with the cash.

The woman was taken to Port Shepstone Regional Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and discharged.

Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid of the SA Police Force in Port Shepstone condemned the attack. It is absolutely tragic,” she said. “It is almost impossible to believe. The poor woman is 82.”

Wiid confirmed that a case of rape has been opened and that another of robbery would be opened.

She said that the police will do everything they can to find the perpetrator.
