Robson’s body identified

THE body of Mark Robson, the Hilton College old boy who went missing on Phuket Island in Thailand and was later found dead, has been released and his family are awaiting its arrival home.

Robson (27) was last seen alive at Nai Yang beach and last withdrew cash at an ATM on January 23 before his body was found near a deserted beach on the island on January 25 in a seated position.

He was due to start a teaching job in Taipei on February 6, but his parents were alerted when he did not board the plane.

Department of International Relations spokesperson Clayson Monyela said the body had been positively identified as Robson, but he could not comment further on issues like postmortems, toxicology tests and the investigation as he had not been given permission by the family to talk about these matters.

“We are only here to provide consular support to the family,” he said.

Keith Robson, Mark’s father, said Mark’s body has been released.

“We are still waiting for some paperwork to be sorted out, but his body has been released. We will make funeral arrangements once his body has arrived in the country,” Keith said.
