Rovers pummel Collegians

2013-07-02 00:00

IT was a good weekend for the Durban clubs in their Fidelity Security Moor Cup Premier Division matches against Pietermaritzburg clubs in the KZN capital.

Runaway log leaders and defending champs College Rovers beat PMB Collegians 81-18 at Woodburn.

“It was a tough day at the office playing an excellent Rovers side, who had Ryan Kankowski playing for them,” said Collegians chairperson Didier Claite. “My boys never stopped trying and I am very proud of them.”

Collegians scored two tries through Tiaan Moore, while Juan Myburgh kicked the balance of the points.

The UKZN Impi were beaten 38-18 by Crusaders up on the PMB campus’s rugby stadium.

There is no Premier Division club rugby over the weekend, but the Midlands Marauders will be playing Northern KZN at Woodburn this Saturday at 3 pm.

Meanwhile, the Midlands Rugby Sub-Union’s Crowe Cup Third Division has Drakensberg leading the log with 53 points from 12 matches, with Noodsberg in second place with 43 points, but they have a game in hand.

The Bulls are third on 40 points from only 10 games with Voortrekker Old Boys in fourth place on 25 points, followed by Waratahs on 24 points with Varsity thirds, Collegians thirds and Cedara making up the numbers.

The MRSU’s Raw Cup Fourth Division is led by Obhejane on 40 points with Young Lions second. Collegians fourths are in third spot, followed by Nagle Dam Rhinos and Howick Eagles.
